Introduction: Islamic Nations see
huge outpouring of Anger
Angry Muslims took to the streets
in protest in many countries across the world, including India, after the
first Friday prayers since US President George Bush launched raids on Afghanistan.
In India police fired teargas and
used water cannons to disperse thousands of protesting Muslims in major
Indian dries, including New Delhi, Hyderabad and Srinagar. They shouted
anti-US slogans and burnt effigies of Mr Bush and the British flag, demanding
an immediate stop to the bombings that began on Sunday. 'Death to America.
Death to Israel. Taliban, Taliban, we salute you,' some 10,000 Muslims
chanted at the Jama Masjid in New Delhi.
Meanwhile, protesters torched cars
in Pakistan and marched in Indonesia, Malaysia, Bangladesh and the Philippines.
Muslims burned US flags in Indonesia and Sri Lanka, and set off firecrackers
outside the US embassy in Jakarta as demonstrations quickly followed prayers.
