Deputy chief minister Chhagan Bhujbal
is being embarrassed by the leader of his own party, the NCP. He was the
first leader to openly demand a ban on the Students Islamic Movement of
India (SIMI). But on Thursday, NCP spokesperson Vasant Chavan said the
ban should not have been effected without collecting adequate evidence
against SIMI. A similar view was expressed by NCPs senior leader Tariq
Anwar here recently.
Mr Bhujbal, who heads the home ministry,
had stated earlier that SIMI to spell out its stand on Kashmir. But the
organization never took up the challenge.
