Even as General Pervez Musharraf
is trying hard to whitewash his regime's complicity in the terrorist crimes,
investigations in the US have revealed more links between Pakistan's jehadi
establishment and Osama bin Laden's Al Qaida. American investigating agencies
have said Mohammad Atta - the "axle" of the September 11 terrorist attacks
- was sourcing funds from Pakistan. Reports on the ongoing probe into the
WTC crash said that as much as $100,000 was wired in the past year from
Pakistan to Atta, the leader of the hijackings. The wire transfers from
Pakistan were sent to Atta through two banks in Florida. Then, Atta allegedly
would distribute it to others involved in the plot.
