Girls students of the Patna Medical
College finally took up cudgels against the growing obscenity in the campus
in the name of ragging and beat up two male students on Friday last week
and another one on Saturday.
Later, the girls gheraoed the nearby
Pirbahore police station alleging that college officials were not cooperating
with them.
They also lodged an FIR against
the three male students.
It all started with the pasting
of some obscene posters and pictures in the college canteen.
Some junior female students took
offence and beat up two boys.
The following day, another boy was
thrashed with chappals and sandals.
The boys, who refused to be identified,
claimed that they had been wrongly targeted as the posters and photos had
been pasted by some outsiders.
However, the girls insisted that
outsiders would not dare put up such obscene posters in the college canteen.
Before the situation could get out
of hand, the college authorities contemplated suspending classes and evacuating
the hostels.
However, the situation was sorted
out peacefully among the students.
Though the thrashing of the male
students was projected as a junior-senior clash, it could not have been
possible without the backing of the senior female students.
The seniors only used their juniors
to check the growing obscenity on the campus.
