Israel detains Pakistanis for alleged Laden link

Jerusalem: Four Pakistani nationals, suspected of having links with Osama Bin Laden's al-Qaeda network, were detained in Israel after they entered the country's territorial waters by a ship, a media report here said.

However, one of them was released after the interrogation, the Hebrew daily Maariv said.

The four were nabbed on Friday by Israeli Navy and police following intelligence reports that a ship carrying Pakistani nationals, sailing under the Maltese flag, was heading towards the Haifa port, it said.

The navy and police tracked down the ship and held them as soon as the ship anchored at the Halfa port, the daily said.

All the detainees were interrogated over the weekend and one of them was released susequently, the daily added. (PTI)
