Mild tension prevailed in Kaladera
locality under Chaderghat police station limits on Sunday evening when
a group of youngsters belonging to one community attacked the houses of
the people belonging to another community and inflicted minor injuries
on six persons.
One of the injured, Satya alias
Prabhu, was admitted to the Osmania General Hospital. Residents of Kaladera
said trouble started when a 15-month-old boy, Prashant, was hit by a speeding
scooterist when he was loitering in front of the house.
Angered over the rash driving of
the scooterist, the boy's father, Yadaiah, slapped the scooterist. Within
a few minutes, a mob gathered in support of the scooterist and attacked
the inmates of the houses with cricket bats and stumps. Three women and
four men sustained minor injuries and a woman lost her gold chain.
The East Zone DCP, Sunil Kumar,
visited the spot. A special police picket was posted in the area.
The local residents complained that
this was the third attack on them in the last three months and accused
the police of failing to initiate action against the culprits.
