Robbery plan foiled; 4 Bangladeshis held

With the arrest of four Bangladeshi nationals on early Sunday morning, the East district police claimed to have solved 15 cases of robbery and burglary including one case of murder cum robbery committed in the Vivek Vihar area in 1998.

The East district police arrested Mohd Harun Faraji, Mohd Muneer Khan, Mohd Nazrul and Ayub Ali Khan, all hailing from Bangladesh, when they were planning to rob a petrol pump in the Ghazipur village in East Delhi. DCP East district, Arvind Deep informed that a secret information was received that the gang was meeting up in the Ghazipur jungle to plan a robbery. "A team headed by ACP Kalyan Puri Mr Gothwal was formed and they cordoned off the entire area," added DCP.

The gang members decided to flee but were overpowered by the police team. A loaded 'katta' (country made pistol) of .315 bore was recovered from one of them while meat choppers were recovered from the other three.

On interrogation, it was found that the gang was involved in 15 other cases.
