Forced Conversion of Hindu Girls in Bangladesh

Author: Rabindra Ghosh

Date: September 6, 2002

Just to-day I have been given to understand that the government took decision to transfer the two kidnapped minor girls namely Miss Sushma Malo(14) and Miss Putul Rani Malo of Madaripur(15) from Madaripur Jail custody to Dhaka Safety Cell and those two minor girls are now staying alongwith other Muslim orphan girls at Dhaka with a very poorly condition. The Management of the Dhaka Safety Cell could not allow us to meet with the girls. The Management told us that those two girls have already been converted to Islam and no body even the legal guardian will be allowed to meet with them. The guardian of the two girls have got no financial capacity to come to Dhaka even and it is not possible on their part to afford to file Writ petition in the High Court Division for recovery of their children. We have also been told that the Magistrate of Madaripur rejected their application to meet with their children. As the case has already been filed in Madaripur police station, the accuseds are now in difficu

I apprehend that unless an order from the High Court is obtained it would be difficult to get back both the girls under the custody of their guardian. And nobody is coming forward for their help. If anybody of you wish to extend your co-operation and help please let us know for further action in this regard.

Please be kind to help those two minor girls and rescue them from being converted to Islam.
