A Pakistani religious school teacher
chopped off the tongue of his 13-year old student to destroy evidence after
he allegedly saw the teacher sodomising another student, his family said.
Abdul Quddos saw his teacher Bashir
Ahmed sexually assaulting a student in a side room of the school in small
town of Yazman near Multan more than a week ago.
Quddos' father Hanq Nawaz told reporters
at a local hospital late Thursday that the teacher had warned his son not
to disclose it to anyone otherwise he would cut out his tongue.
But he did not take the warning
seriously and informed his parents about the incident. "The teacher caught
Quddos on September 3 and chopped off his tongue with a razor," Nawaz said.
Quddos has now been shifted to the
Nishtar Hospital, Multan, for surgery, but he is still unable to speak,
Nawaz said. He added that no arrest had been made so far.
Local police chief Hamid Mukhtar
said Nawaz had not yet lodged any complaint with the police.
