In a shocking statement, chief minister
of Mizoram, Zoramthanga, told a Welsh missionary on Wednesday that he wishes
to see Christian domination of all of India by sending forth as many as
one lakh missionaries (100,000) from his state.
In an informal meeting with Mrs
Lloyd, the widow of former Welsh missionary to Mizoram Rev J M Lloyd, and
her daugther at his bungalow, Zoramthanga said that development works are
being pushed forward to make his dream into a reality which is to send
out from the state as much as one lakh missionaries to achieve Christian
domination.
Mrs Lloyd was is revisiting Mizoram
to attend the 100th anniversary of
the Mizoram Presbyterian women's
wing last week. The place where the CM' s bungalow stands now happened
to be where Mrs Lloyd used to stay with her husband while serving here.
Mrs Lloyd and other Welsh Christian
leaders lauded the aggressive Christian conversions in Mizoram in just
more than a hundred years which started just more than a hundred years
ago. Mizoram is now more than 90% Christian.
Mizoram, claiming to be a cent per
cent Christian dominated state, has now boasted that of the Indian states,
it sends out the largest number of missionaries even more than the parent
Welsh country.
Western missionaries have found
indigenous missionaries to be much more effective than foriegn ones, because
they have no language barrier and Christianity is seen as less of a foreign
religion.
