Litterateurs Dr. S.L. Bhyrappa and
Dr. M. Chidanandamurthy have expressed their displeasure at those claiming
to be rationalists and not saying anything about the injustice meted out
to Hindus though they were themselves following the Hindu religion and
pratice in their daily life.
Speaking during the Hindu Jagrithi
rally in the Town Hall premises here yesterday, under the auspices of Hindu
Dharma Rakshana Vedike, Dr. Chidanandamurthy remarked that those claiming
to be progressive in outlook were not turning their attention towards the
injustice that was meted out to the Hindus. Eloquent as they were, they
were ignoring the Hindus, Dr. Murthy added.
Taking an identical stand, Dr. Bhyrappa
argued that the danger posed to Hindu religion was more from Hindus themselves
than either Muslims or Christians. Although they follow Hindu way of life
and marry within the Hindu fold, they speak in the open against the Hindus.
In no other country, Rakshana Vedike
had been created because of the collapse of its major religion. However,
under present circumstances, in India, such a Vedike (Forum) had become
necessary, observed Dr. Chidanandamurthy.
"I can see to it that the statement
"Eshwara, Allah, Buddha and Jesus are the same" was made in any Mutt or
temple. But, will anyone make that statement in a Masjid?," Dr. Murthy
asked.
Stupidity
"Although I don't identify myself
with any particular organisation, I am of the view that it is only Rashtreeya
Swayam Sevak Sangh (RSS) and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) which are fighting
against the injustices done to Hindus. In order to be able to stand steadfastly
for truth, we must awaken ourselves and look inward. If, on that score,
I am dubbed as pro-BJP, it tantamounts to stupidity," Dr. Murthy observed.
Expressing his concern over the
rising population of Muslims and Christians in the country, Dr. Murthy
observed that during the last 50 years, the population of Hindus had shrunk
by 6.5 per cent while that of Muslims and Christians had risen by 3.5 per
cent. Over the next 200 years, Hindus will be a minority community in India,
Dr. Murthy observed.
The Christian population in Nagaland
which was 45 per cent 10 years ago had now risen to 95 per cent. Conversion
was being done everywhere. The temptations offered by the Christian missionaries
were the cause of people getting converted. That must be stopped, Dr. Murthy
demanded.
Dr. Bhyrappa recalled that Churches
of England termed Prince Charles of England as anti-religious when he made
the statement that the essence of all religions was the same.
Criticising the Leftists, Dr. Bhyrappa
remarked that they were opposing the efforts of Gandhiji during the freedom
struggle. Opposing for the sake of opposition was their main pastime. Nowadays,
when Naxalites are killed, the Leftists raise the Human Rights issue. They
declare that Hindu religion promotes inequality. However, they do not answer
when asked where that inequality existed. They too are anti-Hindu religion,
Dr. Bhyrappa remarked.
