Arrested by Delhi Police on August 10 from
Ajmeri Gate, Lashkar terrorists Abu Anas and Abrar Ahmad are busy spilling
the beans. They claim that they were in the Capital to execute a nefarious
module and were directly monitored by Pakistan's Inter Services Intelligence
(ISI).
Based on their information, Joint Commissioner
of Police (Special Cell) Karnal Singh called a press conference on Monday
and stated that Abu Anas was in direct contact with the second in command
of Lashkar-e-Tayyeba Zaki-ur-Rehman as he was his PSO.
Anas has disclosed to the police that LeT
area commanders, Pakistan Army officers and ISI agents hold secret meetings
every month. In these meetings while ISI agents provide LeT commanders regular
updates on the Indian security apparatus, Army officers deliberate how best
these can be infiltrated.
"We have information about direct links
of Lashkar with Pakistan and how they are being helped by the Pakistan Army
and ISI for carrying out operations and training militants," stated Singh.
Anas reportedly used to attend the meetings
with Zaki in Mujaffarabad. He told the police that Zaki used to meet Major
Wajahad, Brigadier Riaz and Brigadier Haji of Pakistan Army for planning terrorists
attacks in India. On his part, Major Wajahad used to visit Zaki at his Shiwai
Nala Mujaffarabad office, housed in an area as big as 50 acres. This place
is also called Baitul Mujahideen. He said that the Lashkar chief also visited
Pakistan army camps to seek help from them.
Zaki had told Anas that the Lashkar would
launch him in Rajouri. For this operation, Anas had reportedly brought two-kg
RDX from Rajouri and left his bag in which his passport and some clothes were
kept at the cloakroom of Lucknow railway station. The bag was recovered by
the Special Cell on Sunday. "He has not disclosed his targets but we
are interrogating him," added Singh.
Anas had joined Lashkar in 2001 and went to
Mujaffarabad for Daura-e-Aam training in which he was trained to handle grenades,
rocket launchers and other arms. There were about 400 trainees in the Umra
camp at Mujaffarabad including Kashmiris, Pakistanis and Afghanis.
Then in 2004, he went for 90 days' Daura-e-Khas
training at Sirikot, Mujaffarabad along with 50 others where he received specialist
training in handling almost all the arms and targeting places.
In July 2005, he was called by Zaki-ur-Rehman
and worked as his bodyguard for eight months till May 2006.
He disclosed that Mohammad Hafiz Sayeed was
the Lashkar chief while Zaki was the second-in-command-cum-chief of operations
in India. Zaki's job included recruiting people for training. Hazi Ashraf
was the head of finance for Lashkar while head of collection of funds was
Abdul Rehman Maki who liased with people from other countries to collect funds.
Anas disclosed that the head of Jammu and
Kashmir operations was Abu-al-Kama while command of operations outside J&K
was given to Azam Cheema alias Baba and Muzammil. Militants training was at
the hands of Abu Kasha Pathan and Abu Kahafa.
Zaki-ur-Rehman had also sent his son Washir-ur-Rehman
to Jammu and Kashmir for operations. Meanwhile, Ahmad Abrar came in contact
with Anas last month when he met him in Nepal and helped him in reaching Delhi
via Nepal, Lucknow, and Jammu and Kashmir, as he was well aware of the routes.
