Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday
shot off a second letter to Prime Minister Manmohan Singh requesting him to
take immediate action for safety of people of Gujarati origin living in strife-torn
African country of Kenya, official sources said.
Modi in his letter has expressed deep concern
over position of Gujarati people living in Kenya as the African nation is
gripped in violence leaving 300 dead.
This is the second letter written by Modi
to the Prime Minister after the first sent on the same issue on Monday.
''The state government has information that
people of Gujarati origin have suffered heavy losses to their property due
to the violence. The state government has so far not received information
of deaths of any non-resident Indians in Kenya,'' Modi said in his letter.
Modi has urged that the Central Government
should immediately make arrangements for safety of lives and property of the
people.
''The Central Government should issue emergency
visas to people who wants to temporarily return to India and make all arrangements
for their safe home coming,'' Modi demanded.
He has suggested that Central Government should
bring them to Nairobi by sea route and special flights should be made available
for them to return to India from there.
