This year end, Kashmiri Pandits from various
parts of the country will meet in New Delhi to intensify their struggle for
a separate homeland in the Valley, according to Panun Kashmir, an organisation
of the exiled community.
Kamal Wangnoo, Secretary, Panun Kashmir, told
The Indian Express that his organisation had passed a Margadarshan Resolution
in Jammu on December 29, 1991, resolving to fight for the creation of a separate
homeland in the Valley. He said delegates from different parts of the country,
will come to New Delhi on December 29 and pledge to work for the realisation
of a separate homeland for the community.
"We want to make it clear that ultimately
only a separate homeland will ensure a safe and dignified rehabilitation of
the exiled Kashmiri Pandits. We understand that it is the youth who will have
to finally shoulder the responsibility of fighting for the cause. If they don't
come forward or we fail to communicate to them, then homeland will be difficult
to achieve," Wangoo added.
He said that leaders of political parties, political
analysts and others will speak on the 16th anniversary of the Margdarshan Resolution.
"Senior BJP leader Murli Manohar Joshi,
former Ambassador to Pakistan G Parthasarthy, Govindacharya, Panun Kashmir leaders
Ajay Chrungoo, Kuldeep Raina and Shakti Bhan will speak on the occasion,"
he said. Noted personalities will be felicitated on the occasion, he said. They
include film personality Kiran Jeevan Dhar, Cricketer Suresh Raina, CNBC Political
Editor Sheeren Bhan, eminent Vedic Scholar C V Gopinath, eminent artist Veer
Munshi and Santoor Maestro Abhay Sopori.
