ISI-fostered 'sleeping' modules waking up
and planning to strike at industrial hubs to destabilise economic growth and
arrest inflow of foreign money after the peaceful Lok Sabha polls, have pressed
the panic buttons for the Intelligence brass.
What has come as a revelation for the Intelligence
sleuths is the fact that the Islamic ultra outfits went on a six-month hiatus,
in the larger interest of the Muslim community. It was apprehended by the
ultras any big strike would polarise voters on religious lines and help the
BJP-led NDA in forming the government in Delhi.
All this and more came to light during grilling
of some ultras nabbed in Jammu and Kashmir.
The content of the disclosure made by the
ultras and subsequent surveillance indicated that militant organisations like
Jaish-e-Mohammed, Lashkar-e-Toiba, Indian Mujahideen had plans of repeating
Mumbai like fidayeen attack which could hit the inflow of foreign investments.
The prime targets of the ultra outfits are
stock exchanges, big business centres in New Delhi, call centres at Bangalore
and headquarters of leading mobile service providers which could bring them
maximum media hype world wide.
Uttar Pradesh, which saw a terror attack at
the CRPF group centre at Rampur on January 1, 2008, is also high on the ultra
priority list to avenge the crackdown on Azamgarh-based Indian Mujahideen
(IM) module.
Inputs also indicate that targetting VVIPs
is not on the priority of Pak-based militant groups as it is thought that
any such casualty could pose threat to the Muslim community. Besides, it could
also catapult its host nation Pakistan in an embarrassing situation and invite
world wide censure.
