After slamming the Comptroller and Auditor
General (CAG) report during his deposition on Monday, DB Realty promoter and
2G accused Shahid Balwa dragged in the then external affairs minister Pranab
Mukherjee and then solicitor general GE Vahanvati on the telecom policy.
Balwa claimed the duo was aware of the telecom
policy and knew everything.
He also said that the Prime Minister had endorsed
all the decisions and that he was aware of the 2G deal details.
Earlier on Monday, Balwa criticised the CAG
report during his deposition on Monday in the 2G spectrum scam, calling the
report exaggerated.
Balwa, an accused in the 2G spectrum scam,
lambasted the report claiming that the loss cited by the CAG was inflated.
The CAG, in a report to Parliament last year, had pegged the presumptive loss
to the exchequer on 2G spectrum allocation at Rs 1.76 lakh crore.
He also criticised the CBI for erring by arresting
innocent people and said that investigative agencies were under duress from
other courts.
Balwa demanded to know why the CBI did not
write a single letter to the finance or the telecom ministry on the substantive
loss to the exchequer. He also ruled out conspiring with Unitech as it was
a competitor.
Balwa was arrested on February 8, and faced
charges of cheating, forgery, corruption and criminal conspiracy.
The CBI had, in its second chargesheet in
the 2G case, alleged that Shahid Balwa along with Vinod Goenka, MD of DB Realty
and Swan Telecom, channelled Rs 200 crore to DMK family-run Kalaignar TV,
through Kusegaon Realty.
