Surrendered Maoist from Bastar Podyam Panda claimed in a confession that he was the one who drove urban naxals like Nandini Sundar and Bela Bhatia into the jungles of Bastar to meet Maoist killers like Hidim, the mastermind behind the #Sukma massacre of CRPF jawans.

This was allegedly the first time a surrendered Maoist has openly taken names Urban Naxals like Nandini Sundar and Bela Bhatia, even though it is common knowledge in all of Chattisgarh that these are the people whose job it is to provide legal and social cover to the Maoist killers and to demoralise the forces by making fake allegations of torture and rape.

For the uninitiated, Sundar is a professor at DU and her husband, Sid Varadarajan used to be a journalist at the Hindu and now runs the Wire.

Bela Bhatia used to be a professor at TISS and CSDS and her husband Jean Dreze was a member of Sonia Gandhi's NAC for two whole terms. Thanks to NHRC, Bela Bhatia now lives in Jagdalpur in a govt bungalow, protected by the same Chattisgarh cops, whom she has repeatedly vilified!

Times of India covered Podyam Panda's explosive confession with a headline 'Maoist 'nails' DU professor' in the morning. But within hours, the headline was changed to a tame 'Maoist confession forced, says DU professor', giving it a completely different slant!
