Abdul Sattar Abdul Nabi, the MLA from Sillod constituency of Maharashtra, accompanied by his aides beat up three farmers over a land dispute.

The incident, which took place on June 12, came to light after a video was released by the victims. CNN-News18 has the video, showing the attack on the farmers.

“We have given a written complaint against Abdul Sattar, his son Sameer and two others, but the police are yet to register an offence,” said one of the farmers.

The farmers – Shaikh Khaleel Shaikh Ibrahim, Shaikh Mukhtar Shaikh Sattar and Shaikh Rahim Shaikh Karim—had levelled allegations against the MLA claiming that his workers were sowing in their farm.

The enraged MLA turned up at the farm with around 25-30 men, thrashed the farmers and threatened with dire consequences if they try to cultivate the land again.

Talking to CNN-News18, MLA Abdul Sattar defended his action by claiming that this was a BJP conspiracy. “This is a conspiracy of the BJP. These farmers sold the land to a Dalit and were not handing it over to him. They were going to beat up the Dalit and I prevented that from happening,” said Abdul Sattar.

The MLA, however, did admit to abusing the farmers and said, “Yes, I abused the farmers but only to make them vacate the land belonging to a Dalit.”

Sources at the Sillod Police station confirmed that no case had been filed yet and investigations were underway.

The farmers met the Superintendent of Police and handed over a memorandum demanding action against the MLA and his accomplices.
