An Intelligence Bureau (IB) report has stated that Pakistan's intelligence agency, the Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI), supplied Rs 800 crore to Kashmiri separatist leaders including Syed Ali Shah Geelani and Asiya Andrabi to fuel unrest in the Valley.

The funds were reportedly transferred to the separatist leaders through various channels. However, the flow of illicit money slowed down after November 2016, when demonetisation of high-value currency notes was announced.

WHAT DOES THE INTELLIGENCE BUREAU REPORT SAY

1. As per the IB report, the funds supplied by the ISI were used to pay off stone-pelters and petrol bomb throwers, news website One India reported.

2. In its report, the IB states that an uprising was planned in the Valley by Pakistan much before July 2016. It also states that Hizbul Mujahideen militant Burhan Wani's encounter helped the ISI ignite rebellion across the Valley.

3. According to the IB report quoted by One India, a large chunk of the funds was sent via terrorists who crossed over into India from terror launchpads in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir. The money was then delivered to the separatists through touts and hawala channels.
