Protecting Islam is His Priority

To believe that Britain’s notorious grooming gangs somehow sidestepped London is an exercise in the most extraordinary naivety. The UK capital is home to more than 1.5 million Muslims (15% of the population) but for years we’ve been led to believe that none of that 1.5 million have copied their co-religionists in towns and cities from Bristol to Rotherham and instituted organised rape and trafficking networks.

Of course there are grooming gangs in London, we just don’t speak of them. There’s good reason for this - the Mayor of London is a Muslim who has spent his career sanitising Islam and defending its worst practitioners. It is obvious to me that cover-up is the only reason London is not recognised as a grooming gang hub, and it’s a relief this is finally receiving attention.

The Daily Express recently published the results of its investigation into London grooming gangs and stated that Khan had “read reports of young girls being raped in hotels by groups of men while publicly denying there were any grooming gangs in the capital.” Maggie Oliver, the heroic ex-police officer and early whistleblower on grooming gang cover-ups, said London followed “the same pattern” as the infamous scandals in Rochdale or Rotherham - where gang rape of mostly young English girls by Muslim men was allowed to carry on for decades.

Shadow Home Secretary Chris Philp MP backed Maggie Oliver and said, “It is shameful that the Mayor of London is claiming to have no indication that grooming gangs are operating in London despite personally responding to reports containing evidence of victims abused by grooming gangs in the city. It is clear Sadiq Khan is facilitating a cover up.”

In the wake of the Daily Express expose, London’s Evening Standard conducted a separate investigation and discovered that grooming gangs are rife, particularly in the Muslim-dominated East End. Reporters spoke to social workers, survivors, and others on the front line, and concluded there had been a “catastrophic failure” by the Metropolitan Police. I’m not entirely convinced. While incompetence is certainly a factor in these nationwide police failures, there is a darker side to this: an active determination to protect Muslim crimes from exposure for both religious and political reasons. Sadiq Khan’s willingness to conceal these crimes was inevitable to anyone paying attention, as was the Labour Party’s complicity.

Let’s first examine Mr. Khan.

During the Mayoral election of 2016, Conservative candidate Zac Goldsmith was pilloried by the media for daring to point out Khan’s long history of connection with some of Britain’s most notorious Muslim figures, including Suliman Gani, who believes in the subordination of women, and Louis Farrakhan.

Farrakhan was barred from entering Britain in the 1980s, largely for his antisemitism (describing Jews as bloodsuckers) and his description of white people as “devils.” This ban was overturned in 2001 in a history-making case. Farrakhan's lawyer? Sadiq Khan.

But it is his connection to the Muslim Council of Britain (MCB) that particularly raises eyebrows. In 2022, Khan attended a dinner to celebrate the MCB’s 25th anniversary and delivered a speech stating, “Since its founding, the MCB has realized its vision of helping to shape a more just and fairer society. I want to pay tribute to all the Secretary Generals this evening, to all the elders who recognised the importance of establishing the MCB.”

Some of those “elders” are known extremists, with many rooted in Jamaat-e-Islami - a network dedicated to the advancement of sharia law. A UK government report has previously noted the MCB’s “linkages to Islamist movements like the Muslim Brotherhood and the Jama`at-i Islami.” It went on to state that the government had cut ties with the group for those reasons.

Among the anniversary dinner attendees was Sir Iqbal Sacranie, a name familiar to many. Sacranie famously stated that “Death, perhaps, is a bit too easy for him ... his mind must be tormented for the rest of his life unless he asks for forgiveness to Almighty Allah.” Here, he was addressing Salman Rushdie, who spent years in hiding after publishing a book considered offensive to Muslims. Rushdie was stabbed several times at an event in New Jersey in 2022, leaving him partially blind and paralysed. His attacker was Hadi Matar, who described Rushdie as “someone who attacked Islam.”

Interestingly, another person who attended the MCB anniversary dinner with Sadiq Khan was then-Assistant Commissioner of the Metropolitan Police, Louisa Rolfe. She spoke at the event and thanked “the Muslim community” for its “wise counsel” before concluding that the police must “do better to reflect the communities we serve.”

Is the picture becoming clearer?

Labour’s outright complicity in failing to bring grooming gangs to justice is likewise becoming clearer. These gangs famously roam free in towns (Rotherham, Rochdale, Telford etc.) that are Labour-run, and it is no secret that the party relies heavily on the Muslim vote. Following recent calls for a national inquiry into the scandal, the Labour government refused, only backing down after intense pressure from the Conservatives. Safeguarding Minister Jess Phillips was also reluctant, and rejected calls from Oldham Council for an investigation in their area. It’s worth noting that Phillips was re-elected by just 693 votes in a heavily Muslim-populated area, so her reasons for wishing to avoid conflict with Muslims is probably obvious.

Nevertheless, the national grooming gang inquiry got underway … and was soon falling apart. The panel included 30 survivors, four of whom have departed and called for Phillips to resign. According to one, there was a “push to widen the remit of the national inquiry in ways that downplay the racial and religious motivations behind our abuse.”

For those of us who know this issue well, this was entirely expected. It is the ethnicity and religion of the offenders that has protected these grooming gangs for decades. Labour is protecting its voting base and its open-border ideology, while Sadiq Khan is protecting his religion and related associates.

I have written extensively about these gangs for many years and I will say again what I have always maintained: there will be no honest discussion of grooming gangs in the UK until our political and media elite are willing to talk about Islam in unfavourable terms. Until that time, no effective action will be taken to stop the gangs and the victims will not receive justice. Given Labour’s recent attempts to crack down on “Islamophobia,” that day is as far away as ever.
