An attempt by a suspected ISI agent
to take away precious idols from the holy shrine of Badrinath has been
foiled, police said here today. The incident occurred when the suspected
agent, identified as Ankur Sharma, barged into the holy shrine in the wee
hours yesterday after breaking in. However, an alert security guard raised
an alarm on hearing 'certain sounds' from inside the temple, police said.
Security guards had to break open the door to nab him as he had locked
himself inside the temple. He was later handed over to the police. Some
documents were recovered from the intruder showing that he was working
for the ISI, police added.
