As the suspense mounts over the next move of the Dharam Sansad, pillars and stones carved for the proposed Ram temple at three workshops in Rajasthan have already started reaching Ayodhya.

Around a dozen truckloads of Pillars reached Karsevakpuram last, week, said a highly placed Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) source. “Another consignment is expected within a week’s time,” he added. Carving of pillars and stones is going on at six workshops - two in Ayodhya and four in Sirohi district of Rajasthan. The stones carved in Rajasthan have been kept in workshops of Karsewakpuram.

“With the arrival of these stones we have enough material to finish the first floor of the temple,” said VHP’s international president Ashok Singhal.

The temple would he a double- storey structure. The pillars and beams for the ground floor are almost ready. It is expected to have 106 pillars, each pillar having 16 idols carved on it.

The temple will have six parts. Singh Dwar, Nritya Mandap, Rang Mandap, Koli, Garbh grah and Parikrama. The idol of Ram Lalla would he installed on the first floor while the second floor will have a ‘Ram Darbar’.

Does the arrival of the carved stones indicate that construction of Ram Mandir would start soon? VHP functionaries are not sure. People close to Mr Singhal said the Dharam Sansad might not declare the dates but would take some decisions “to keep Hindutva rolling”.
