The day Chinese Prime Minster Zhu Rongji had landed in India, the RSS fired the salvo by accusing China of indulging in 'terrorism in Tibet.'
The organisation which had close connections with the ruling party, was undertaking a plan to “unite” all the countries which formed “Himalayan Nations”. Apart from India, the RSS considered Nepal, Bhutan, Mayanmar, Tibet and Afghanistan as its part. Indresh Kumar the patron of 'Indo-Tibet Co-operation Forum,' and also a senior RSS leader, told The Pioneer, that China and Pakistan were increasing their activities in the Himalayan region, which causes a threat to India's security.
He said that China was indulging in terrorizing the Tibetan people by dumping nuclear waste in this area and by changing its demography. China was also increasing its activities in Nepal, he added.
When asked why China and Pakistan did not form Himalyan states as these were also in the same region, Mr Indresh said, because both the countries have come in contact with this region by annexing some areas. One by annexing Tibet and other by part of Jammu and Kashmir, he said.
He also charged China of annexing
Kailash Mansarovar “where no visa was required till China annexed Tibet”.
Though the stated purpose was development of the area which had “common
heritage and also had common problems”, the intention seemed to be to increase
people to people contact with these countries which were also crucial for
India’s security.
