Bangladesh winter victims: Distribution of relief goods by HRCBM

I on behalf of HRCBM and Lily Foundation went out to Northern part of Bangladesh yesterday and reached for relief operation at Serajgan and Pubna to-day(Janunary 24, 2003) and distributed two bundles of sweaters containing 600 pieces of sweater clothes to the cold affected victims of those area. We came back to-night at 1.30 hrs and taking rest at night. Our team consists of 4 volunteers namely 1)  Advocate Rabindra Ghosh, 2)Professor Ashoke Taru, 3)Engineer Mridul Talukder and 4) Dlilip Das.

Distribution of winter clothes to those victims was peaceful and systematic. We carried the banner " Cold Victim Relief by HRCBM and Lily Foundation" Those relief have been distributed amongst the victims without any discrimination to all people. Most of the victims were babies, women and aged people. We also maintained receipts of those recipients and took signatures or finger impressions. All the receipts and other documents will be scanned very soon with photographs.

The relief distribution was held first at Ullah Para, Serajganj in the residence of Miss Purnima Shil (Purnima was subject to brutal torture by terrorist) daughter of Anil Shil where a good number of all classes of victims came to take winter clothes from HRCBM and Lily Foundation to-day, although the number of recipients were more than one thousand but our stock of sweater pieces were only 600. The  Officer-in-Charge of Ullah Para Mr.Israr Shamim Dewan was informed about our visit and he offered us tea and biscuits at his police station near the residence of Purnima Shil. I requested the O.C.to take special care of all the religious minorities staying within his jurisdiction.  A brief report on relief distribution amongst the cold affected victims and the present situation of that area will be made ready by us and sent to you very soon.

If any kind hearted person/organization is interested to donate for the cold affected victims of Bangladesh please donate immediately and send your money at our HRCBM account. Note: Please mail your tax deductible donation payable to "HRCBM" or "HRCBM-DFW"  or "HRCBM-Dhaka" at:
