Introduction: BJP petition Election Commission to stem mischief

Shri V.K. Malhotra, MP and Parliamentary Spokesperson of the BJP along with a delegation of BJP functionaries from the State of Nagaland met the Chief Election Commissioner and Election Commissioners and presented a petition on the subject of pre-poll rigging and manipulation of Enrolls in Nagaland. The following points have been highlighted:-

The Congress led government in Nagaland has used government machinery to inflate the E-rolls which in most Constituencies even exceed total population in the Census. The figures of 2001 census and 2002 E-rolls were presented which clearly proved this point.

The photo I-cards issued by the Election branch manipulated by the Congress (I) party workers was exposed. Large number of voters have been issued multiple I-cards and names have been enrolled in the same constituency and adjoining constituencies.

They demanded that the Commission take the following actions for a free and fair elections in the State:-

The anomalies in the E-rolls namely, deletion of bogus and under age voters and multiple entries be corrected by the EROs before the Election are announced.

EPICs voters identity cards issued by the Election branch be made inapplicable for the ensuing Assembly Elections as they have been widely manipulated and are mostly bogus.

A fact-finding team of the Election Commission of India immediately visit Nagaland and investigate the facts highlighted in our petition so that the anomalies are corrected and exemplary action is taken against delinquent officials.

The Election Commission has taken a serious view of the allegations and has assured prompt follow up action.
