In the edit 'Jhanda & Agenda' (Jan 23), it is stated that Hindutva’s main props are Ayodhya, Article 370 and Common Civil Code. Agreed that Ayodhya is a prop of Hindutva; but a Common Civil Code is a directive principle of our Constitution.

It had the support of Jawaharlal Nehru, B R Ambedkar and other stalwarts of secularism.

In fact the Common Civil Code is opposed by fanatic Muslims only. More than anybody else, its enforcement will help Muslim women, who form 50 per cent of the Muslim population. How can it then be a prop of Hindutva?
