The Lucknow bench of Allahabad High Court has directed the Archeological Survey of India to undertake excavation of Ram Janma Bhumi-Babri structure site on the basis of Radar Survey findings of Tojo Vikas International. Accordingly, a 14-member team headed by senior archaeologist B R Mani has started work on March 12, along with two experts of Tojo Vikas International.

As per the guidelines, specified areas around makeshift Ram Lala Temple could not be touched. Puja and darshan are allowed as usual. Tojo Vikas International has conducted a Radar Survey as directed by the High Court bench itself. Obviously, it is an exercise towards finding the clinching archeological evidence to ascertain the historicity of Ram Janma Bhumi Temple. Both the communist parties and the leftist historians issued separate statements against the order of the High Court bench. They, unsuccessfully, appealed in the Supreme Court to undo the High Court orders. Leftist historian Prof R S Sharma issued a longish statement from Patna. Leftist historians poured venom against the High Court in a Press conference.

The court order has shaken anti-mandir lobbies. Till the other day, they were swearing in the name of court. Now, they are criticising the court for opening the excavation route for settling the dispute of this nature, for it may be used as a precedence for excavation of numerous other sites. But, who is responsible for this? The same negationists, first negated the historicity of Shri Ram. For them Shri Ram is a mythological character and not a historic one. They negated the existence of Ram Janma Bhumi Temple prior to Babri mosque totally disregarding literally hundreds of published historical evidences by Muslim rulers and scholars.

From the debris of the structure, 39 artefacts were recovered including the Shila Lekh of Ram Janma Bhumi Temple. All these were retrieved under the glare of media, in the presence of hundreds of officials, thousands of constabulary and lakhs of karsevaks. Still these negationists alleged that this must have been smuggled into the site. Forty renowned archaeologists went to Ayodhya and examined these artefacts, issued a joint statement in support of its authenticity, but leftist historians stuck to their negationist guns.

The Shila Lekh of Ram Temple found from the debris was duly examined by two expert linguists of Government of India as well as by experts from Nagpur, Kashi and Prayag universities. They deciphered the script on the Shila Lekh and found it authentic but the leftists debunked it as Karsevak's archaeology.

It is a fact that December 6, 1992 demolition was not 'proper', but the fact remains that under the circumstances, it could not have been otherwise. Now when the High Court bench itself has ordered the archeological survey, why should they be raising so much furore?

There is a systematic campaign going on to create panic in the minds of Muslim masses which has a potential to grip the Muslim mind; for people know that Muslim invaders and rulers destroyed thousands of temples and built mosques over them.

Even today, there is a mosque near Qutub Minar called Quwut-ul-Islam (might of Islam). A slab on the mosque declares that the material of the 27 demolished temples have been used in this mosque. Leftist historians have tried their best to whitewash Islamic barbarity, conceal and deny inconvenient historical facts. But leftists and pseudo-secularists know India's Islamic history and, therefore, the apprehension of excavation route is genuine.

One must remember that the Indian Parliament has enacted an act that status-quo would be maintained at all religious places of worship barring Ayodhya.

About a decade back, L K Advani offered that if Muslims were to show magnanimity on Ayodhya, he would try to persuade VHP for dropping the demand of Kashi and Mathura. The Muslim leadership missed the bus and raised the anti-mandir tempo. It may be recalled that in the initial phase, a front rank Babri leader Syed Shahabuddin once told that if it was proven that the mosque was constructed after the demolition of Ram Janma Bhumi Mandir, he would himself demolish the Babri structure. He maintained this stand for quite sometime, but later changed it to 'Once a Masjid, always a Masjid'.

Recently, the former cabinet minister Arif Mohammad Khan read out from the autobiography of former chairman of Muslim Personal Law Board late Ali Mian, wherein he blamed the Muslim leadership of obstinacy regarding their stand on Ayodhya. He blamed them for using Babri Masjid to conduct their politics. Ali Mian had blamed Muslim leaders for rise of Hindutva.

Whether a Ram Temple was there which was demolished to construct the Babri Masjid has been a central question. There were archeological findings to support the existence of a temple even before 1992. After demolition, the irrefutable direct archeological evidence was available. Latest archeological survey may end the controversy atleast on one point i.e., the existence of Ram Janma Bhumi Temple prior to Babri structure.
