Charging the congress with playing the role of a modern Muslim league, firebrand VHP leader Praveen Togadia today said the ban on tridents being imposed at the behest of Sonia Gandhi is a part of congress's conscious effort to foil the outfit's movement of Hindu awakening in the country.
Ban on tridents is a part of the conscious effort to trample the cause of Hindu awakening under the guidance of congress president Sonia GANDHI, he alleged at a press conference here.
Togadia, who was arrested by the Rajasthan government for violating its ban on carrying tridents and later released on bail, said if one goes by congress's contention that Trishul is a weapon, then all temples in the country must be locked and Pujaris must be arrested under the arms act.
Pujaris worship the Trishul, which is symbol of lord Shiva. If congress firmly believes that it is weapon, all the priests must be jailed under the arms act, he remarked, adding even the saints must be booked under the act, as most of them possess a trident.
VHP will induct 30 lakhs workers
and tridents will be distributed to 10 lakhs youths, half of whom have
already been given Trishul Deeksha, a defiant Togadia added.
