The Bharatiya Janata Party will be electing a new party president
at a plenary session in November.

According to the BJP organisational polls schedule, finalised by
the national executive meeting on Sunday, the electoral college for
the party presidential elections is to be completed by October 31.

BJP spokesperson Sushma Swaraj announced at a news conference that
the membership drive of the party, currently on, will be completed
by May 31. All the state units have been directed to complete
organisational polls by October 31.

The election of the president will take place in November, Ms
Swaraj said, adding that the whole schedule may go haywire if
general elections are announced. She denied that there was any move
to amend the party constitution to allow president L K Advani to
seek another term as party chief.
