After the ruthless murder of Sister Abhaya which virtually shock the society it is the turn of sister Paulsy. She was found dead on May 18th 2000 inside the bathroom of Snehagiri Mission is managed by the Catholic Church in Palai in Kottayam district of Kerala. The Church authorities reported the death due to heart attack. They did not take the victim to any nearby hospital or reported the matter to the Police or the victim's relatives. Sister Paulsey's mother Annamma and sister Mary refused to take the Church for granted. They demanded an autopsy. It was certified after the autopsy that sister Paulsey died of consuming a powerful insecticide 'Feauradan'.
Sister Paulsey joined the Snehagiri Mission in 1985. She became a nun in January 1989. The Snehagiri Mission was started by Father Abraham Kaippan Plakkan as a charity institution. He received substantial monetary help with which he launched the Snehagiri brothers and Snehagiri sisters for extending the missionary work. The mission owns buildings and rubber estates which comes to 92.27 acres.
With the sharp increase in the financial structure of Snehagiri Mission, the Pal Catholic Bishop asked Father Abraham Plakkan to hand over the rights of the mission including properties to the church. Father Plakkan was charged with attempted sextual abuse of Mother Superior Sister Vineetha. Sister Vineetha was formally warned by Father Plakkan of immoral character. With charges of attempted sexual abuse Father Plakkan was ousted from the mission. Mother Superior Sister Vineetha who complained against Father Plakkan later married an individual and left priesthood.
Snehagiri sisters are divided in two classes. An affluent minority lives an extravagant life, while the majority including the murdered sister Paulsey does the entire burden including manual labour. She worked in 'Boys town' managed by the mission. Much before her death sister Paulsey affirmed her elder sister Mary that she shall opt death rather than forsaking her virginity. With tears Mary told the reporter of 'Kerala Sabdam' that her sister, has kept the word. The rooms in 'Boys Town' was used for flesh trade by a group of Catholic Priests and Politicians according to Mary. Sister Paulsey herself has revealed it to her sister. Those who refused to cooperate were considered bitter enemies by the Catholic mission.
One month before the murder Mother Superior Saumya used to show much love towards sisters Paulsey which she never did earlier. She was granted 8 days leave to go home and once she came back on May 16 she was given a transfer. Before leaving to the new place sister Paulsey was given a send off with a grand dinner on May 17th 2000. On May 18th 2000 early morning at 2.30 she was found dead. A person who consumes insecticide usually vomits. However, sister Paulsey's bed room and bathroom was completely cleaned by the Church authorities to make it without trace of any evidence. None of sister Paulsey's relatives have earlier committed suicide.
For 17 years sister Paulsey served the Catholic mission. But not
even a single church authority cared to visit her home to console her relatives.
On April 5, 1997 sister Paulsey wrote a letter to her parents in which
she mentioned that there is a virtual threat to her life, if she continues
serving the church. Her mother told the correspondent of Kerala Sabdam
that sister Paulsey helped Father Plakkan in bringing out the report of
Financial irregularites of the church running into crores of rupees.
A small percentage of money coming from outside was used for charitable
works while a major part was used by the church for unknown activities.
These irregularities were printed by Father Plakkan and sister Paulsey
helped him in composing. If investigation on this murder is stopped
by the church it shall meet the same fate of sister Abhaya - who was brutally
murdered and the culprits still living in paradise of leftist Kerala.
