The so-called ‘secularism’ has poisoned the very veins of the nation and caused extensive damage to it during the last five decades, said Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) leader, Ashok Singhal. He gave a clarion call to the young blood to wake-up in order to restore the glorious past of the nation.

Singhal was speaking at the felicitation programme, held at Ravindra Bhavan, here on Monday on the occasion of his 75th birthday. He was presented a purse of Rs 11 lakh, The firebrand VHP leader, Sadhvi Ritambhara, was the main speaker

While describing the plan for the construction of Ram Temple in Ayodhya, Singhal warned the Union Government that the ‘Saints’ would demand land in Ayodhya for the Temple. Any failure on the part of the government would not hinder the construction, he said. “The temple construction will start anytime after Shivratri,” he declared.

He called upon all the sects of Hindu religion to work in unison in the broader interest of the nation. Singhal said that the Vishwa Hindu, Parishad aims at bringing all the Hindus to a common Platform, Which could be a super power. ‘The construction of the temple will begin anytime in 2002’, he reiterated.

He called upon the youths to wake-up to attain the desired results. “The people of the nation should gird their loins for martyrdom, which would decide the fate of the nation”, Singhal said.

Speaking on the occasion, Sadhvi Ritambhara said Ashok Singhal had awaken the society and attained sainthood. “When the former Prime Minister, VP Singh fanned casteism, Ram Janmabhoomi agitation united the society,” she said. But the struggle is still far from over as the construction of the temple is yet to begin. ‘No government could ban Bajrang Dal as the legal ban would have no impact on it’, she asserted, while replying to the views aired by some quarters to ban the organisation.

Ms Uma Bharti, Union Minister for Sports and Youth Welfare, showered praises on Singhal, saying that his entire life has been devoted for social service. She asked the youths to devote for the construction of the temple, which would be a gift to Singhal on his birthday. She asked for a permanent solution to the dispute.

In sharp contrast to her earlier stand, Ms Bharti said that the demolition of Babri structure was the failure of the organisation as there was no such plan. She said that political scene would have no impact on the construction of the temple. And now time has come to find a permanent solution to the disputed issue.

Earlier, the programme was started with the lighting of the traditional lamp. Sadhvi Kamlesh Bharti, Sadanand Angre, ‘Hariatmanandji, Bhupendra Modi, Shrichand Dixit, Mohanlal, Mittal, Uttamchand Israni, Dr Gaurishankar.
