Today's Bible is an edited Bible, discovers a US Doctor
Recently, I read a book titled 'Many Lives,Many Masters' , written by Dr.Brian Vies. This was first printed in 1988, after which it was reprinted 12 times, and totally 10 lakh copies were printed. It was mentioned on the wrapper of the book that it contained the personal experiences of a Psychiatrist, Dr.Brian Vies (working in Miami of Florida District) in U.S. who failed in his normal methods to cure a psycho patient and gave her hypnotic treatment; that yielded a wonderful experience. The patient, Katherine, began talking about her previous births, and the more she talked about her previous births, her mental derangement was set right. This wonderful experience changed the basic view of life of Dr. Vies also.
On reading the book, I realised that there is a great secret underlying Hindu way of life. I also understood how Dr. Vies learnt that only Hindu beliefs reveal the secrets of life. "My way of life so far did not prepare me for such an experience. I was astounded. There is no scientific explanation for this experience. I learnt that there are certain things which are beyond science and our purview. Truth of previous birth experience is now clear to me. Scientists have now started research on this." says Dr. Vies.
About Catherine, he says, "Catherine is a true Roman Catholic Christian. She believed that she can get salvation only if she is a true Catholic. Hence, she did not believe in Rebirth. Though she knew Hindu religion vaguely, she was ignorant of the fact that there is rebirth after death. Rebirth is a concept against her belief and in contrast to the way in which she was brought up."
When Dr.Vies who does not believe in rebirth, treats Catherine who does not at all know that there is rebirth, Katherine talks about her previous birth experiences. Her first experience was an incident that took place in 1863 BC, i.e., 3846 years ago. Thus, she said that she had 86 rebirths earlier. She revealed that great sages with spiritual power spoke through her now.
Dr. Veis recalls how various Researchers in Psychology have written their experience with regard to rebirth. He reminisced that they had written how various beings take rebirth collectively by taking and repying the debt of their karma and how rebirths continue.
When Catherine was telling her past birth history Dr. Veis was astonished. Although she recovered, he did not have full faith on rebirth. She was talking about his first child that died due to heart ailment within 23 days of its birth, to settle the debt of its parents' old karma. The child's name was Adam and that child was a great Atma. On hearing this, his blood curdled. This child was born to him in 1971 and Catherine was speaking in 1982. Nobody knew about this child. Catherine was saying that the child's heart was bent like that of a chicken. This tallied with the doctor's remarks about the child's heart and that it was a case of one in a crore.
By such revelations of Catherine, Dr. Veis was very much enlightened. While mentioning as a Christian, about the Christian view of rebirth, he says, "There were details of rebirth in both, Old Testament and New Testament. In 325 AD, Roman King Constantine and his mother Helena deleted this chapter on rebirth. Further in 553 AD, in the Second Council of Constantinople, this deletion was ratified and it was proclaimed that belief in rebirth is against Christianity. The reason for such a decision was that it was feared that belief in rebirth will weaken the loyalty to the church and thus reduce the power of the church. Dr.Vies found from the books that old-day Christian sages like Clement of Alexandria, Origen, St. Jerome and others had said that they lived earlier than this birth and will be born again
In the Epilogue of the book, Dr. Veis mentions that 12 more patients received treatment from him in the same way and that they also had the same experience. As a logical effect after the treatment of Catherine, Dr. Veis says that the basics of his life had changed. He explains his transformation thus: His whole life has undergone a metamorphesis. Humanitarian consideration increased. Greed for amassing wealth was vanished. Fear of death disappeared. He engaged himself in Meditation which was sofar practised by Hindus andold Californians. He feels that while science is necessary, we should not lose ourselves in science, and one should feelthe experience of Religion.
This is a book which everyone should
read.
