At least 10 persons, including policemen, were injured as communal violence broke out following the alleged kidnapping of a boy in Keru village in Rajasthan's Jodhpur district on Thursday, police said here on Friday.
Thirty people were arrested in this connection and a case under the arms act has been registered against a member of the minority community who opened fire from his licensed gun and injured three persons, they said.
Following police intervention in the abduction case, hundreds of people of the majority and minority communities clashed at Ramdeo colony in the village and also pelted stones at police, injuring some of them, including the station house officer of Soorsagar police station. They also damaged a police vehicle, set fire to 12 shops, some houses and a madarsa, police said.
Trouble started after the alleged abduction of the 15-year-old boy, Nirmal Singh, who was kidnapped from Bhinay in Ajmer district and was being held in captivity in the house of a minority community member since August 13.
Police rounded up two persons, who were reported to be habitual offenders, but the main accused Babu Singh was absconding.
