A mother and daughter duo, filed false complaints at Sardarnagar police station, claiming that their husbands and the daughter’s 11-year-old son went missing since riots broke out in the city, to take advantage of the government-declared compensation of Rs 1 lakh for those who died during the riots.

Sardarnagar police during investigations found that all the three claims were false and the reports were filed with an aim to get the death compensation. The first case was filed by Farida Mansuri in which she has claimed that her husband Rafiq Ismial Mansuri and her son Sameer Mansuri were burnt alive during the communal violence.

Based on the complaint of Mansuri, Sardarnagar police found that Farida’s husband Rafiq had left her around 11 years ago and has since been living in Ramol, Janatanagar along with his second wife.

Police also found that Farida had no son named Sameer, but was actually the son of another woman Sayeeda, her neighbour and Farida had just taken a snap with the child which she had shown the police. Sameer went missing when he had gone for some work four years back. Taking advantage of these facts, Farida filed a case of Sameer as her missing son.

Likewise, Farida’s mother Rabiya Mansuri, filed a case claiming that her second husband Rafiq Mansuri alias Mohan Lalwani, 50, was also missing since the riots.

Police found even this claim to be false.
