Following a dispute between Naga Sadhus at Trimbakeshwar, 29 Kms from here, and Shankaracharya of Puri Adhokshajananda, police have served a notice to the latter asking him not to make "any provocative statements" to the media for at lease a fortnight, which may create 'unrest' during the ongoing Kumbh Mela, reports PTI.
After the Trimbakeshwar's Shaddarshan Akhada Parishad last week asked the district administration and police to remove Adhokshajanand from Nashik Kumbh camp as he is not the real 'Shankaracharya of Puri' but a 'fake' one. Adhokshajanand has been issuing various statements to media against VHP, RSS and mahants and sadhus, police said here on Thursday.
A meeting of mahants at Trimbakeshwar on Wednesday attended by national president of Shri Shambhu Panchdarshnam Juna Akhada Parmanand Saraswati and Akhada Parishad president Sagaranand Saraswati among others, also asked administration and police to remove Adhokshajanand from Kumbh h camp and warned of an agitation if it failed to do so. "Taking into consideration all this, we have issued a notice asking him to refrain from making provocative statements, at least for a fortnight," police said.
Even on Wednesday night, with a
view to prevent new dispute, city police obstructed Adhokshajanand near
Zilla Parishad here when he was proceeding to Trimbakeshwar for a pooja
of Lord Trimbakeshwar. Talking to newspersons this morning, Adhokshjanand
said "I will abide by the police notice and not make any statements for
a fortnight. However, I will not bend against fascists people".
