Introduction: Sketches released; Investigation revel Ammonium Nitrate was used in the Explosives
Agencies probing into the Shramjeevi Express blast suspect the hands of banned Students' Islamic Movement of India (SIMI) in the incident.
Talking to reporters here on Monday the Additional Director General, Government Railway Police VK Bhalla said, "This blast matches the modus operandi of SIMI operations of the past." He said that the type of explosive used also strongly indicates that it was the handiwork of SIMI. He however added that it was too early to say anything conclusively as the investigation was in progress with the help of the special task force and the state intelligence.
While releasing the sketches of two of the four suspects, the ADG said that sketches of the remaining two were being prepared and shall soon be released to the media. He said that as per the description given by the eye-witnesses, one of the suspect was tall, fair wearing studs in the ears and resembled cine actor Salman Khan. The other one was short and dark complexioned. Both of them were around 30 years of age.
In reply to a question Bhalla said that the eye-witnesses told the sleuths that the language they were conversing in suggested that they belonged to eastern UP. The ADG said that the forensic lab report has established that ammonium nitrate mixed with mobil oil was detonated with the help of a timer device. He said that some quantity of RDX could also have been mixed but a correct picture would only emerge after two-three days as forensic test for RDX takes more time.
He also informed that the suspects
had boarded the train at Varanasi and when they failed to stop the train
by pulling the chain, all of them jumped out of the running train into
a pond when the train slowed down near Badalpur in Jaunpur.
