27 members of minority community held at Satkhira border

The BDR personnel of Satkhira sector on August 25 detained 27 members of the minority community at Bakol check post on their way to Bhomra border for entrance into India.

BDR sources said they aided by a broker were going to the Bhomra border by a car.

They had household belongings with them.

Among the detained people were 20 males, five females and two children.

They hail from different villages in Paikgacha, Dacope and Batiaghata upazilas of Khulna district.

Among them were Sabita (40), wife of Nittyananda Boiragi, her two sons Rabindra Boiragi, Samir Boiragi and Rabindra's wife Jotirmoyi (16) of Telikhali village in Paikgacha upazila, Shanti Dali (45), wife of Chitta Dali, her daughter Sumita (15), her two sons, Pankanj Mondol, his wife Shaymoli (20), daughter Sheuli of village Putimari, Sumita (25), wife of Sujan Dali of village Madhukhali in the same upazila, Bishwajit Mondol, his wife Shankari of Batiaghata upazila, Shila Rani, wife of Krishnapada, Dipu Biswas and his six years old son of Decope upazila.

There was a panic in their face and in the face of interrogation they denied the fact of leaving the country for ever, saying that they had problems in the area and that they were going to India in quest of works. Most of them did not open month.

The detained people were produced before the court which sent than to jail. ( The Independent )
