Congress Muslim leaders on Monday revolted against AICC general secretary and in-charge of Bihar Digvijay Singh saying the party had failed to field Muslim candidates in 30 out of the 38 districts of the state.
The voice of discontent was raised at an internal meeting of Congress Muslim leaders convened by veteran party leader Rafique Alam. The delegates expressed their resentment over 'neglect' of Muslims during ticket distribution.
They alleged that the names of Muslim candidates cleared at a high-level party meeting were struck off by Singh. They cited the examples of Munger, Goh, Darbhanga, Gaya and Bhagalpur seats where Muslim candidates were dropped at the behest of Singh.
The meeting accused Singh of giving ticket to mafias, contractors, blackmoney holders and new entrants on the basis of their class and caste. Expressing surprise they said a person who got 159 votes in the February elections in Chakai constituency was given party ticket from Munger. They alleged party tickets for Chautham and Chakai seats were given to Singh's relatives.
