In the first instance of its kind, the Indian Army Wednesday discovered a cache of weapons hidden by guerrillas in the home of a former soldier in Jammu and Kashmir.
Officials said soldiers raided the home of Mohammad Razaq, who had served in the army for seven years and was dismissed two years ago for an act of indiscipline, and found the weapons and a secret room that was used by guerrillas as a hideout.
The entrance to the secret room at Razaq's house at Mendhar in Poonch was covered by an almirah, which was 10 feet high, eight feet long and six feet wide.
An army spokesman said 220 batteries used in making bombs, two pistols and six digital diaries were found during the raid.
Razaq, who was arrested, is being interrogated by the army and intelligence officials.
