An official at a madrassa, in northern Bangladesh has been arrested for allegedly raping 20 boys, newspapers reported Sunday.
Abu Taleb of AmrulBari Polipara Hafezia Madrassa in the northern district of Rangpur was arrested Saturday after he failed to turn up to face a village body investigating complaints of rape against him, the Bhorer Kagoj daily said.
Taleb's alleged rape of 20 boys between aged 10 and 16 came to light when one student refused to go to school because of the sexual assaults.
Nineteen other students followed him in lodging complaints with the school authority against Abu Taleb.
If found guilty, he could face several
years in prison and fine.
