A Planter in the 7/11 serial train blasts case, Kamal Ansari, has stated in his confession that he sent one of his relatives to Pakistan to receive arms training because of the handsome amount he was paid for the job.

In his 31-page confession, recorded by Deputy Commissioner of Police V K Choubey on October 4, 2006, Ansari narrated that he was not a very educated man and had struggled to make a living in his village Basopatti in Madhubani district. Meanwhile, he met one Hafiz Zuber, an LeT operative based in Nepal and two of his Pakistani associates, Abdullah Umar and Hussain Umar, in 1997 at Benaras.

Then, in 2000, Ansari was approached by one Ibrahim Raeen who told him that Hafis Zuber wanted to meet him in Kathmandu. Ansari was asked to get his passport made and to obtain a Pakistani visa.

After he met Zuber, he was told that he was required to go to Pakistan in order to collect some donations which could be used to fund madrasas. It was only after reaching Pakistan, Ansari realised that he was cheated into undergoing an arms training.

"After the training got over, I met Zuber and told him that instead of collecting donations, I was given training in arms meant for terrorists. I also complained that I was paid only Rs 1,200 and that all others who traveled with me to Pakistan had disappeared. Zuber asked me to calm down and told me that I should forget everything that has happened. He also warned me that he had taken my photograph while I was receiving training and if passed on to the Indian police, it could lead to my death sentence," stated Ansari in his confession.

Later in April 2001, he met Zuber in an office of Nile Travels in Kathmandu. There he was introduced to the proprietor of Nile Travels, Saifulla Khalid, who gave him basic computer training and created three email IDs for him.

"Saifulla told me that I should find some more needy youths for collecting donations for madrasas and then send them for training to Pakistan. He also asked me to lure the youths by telling them that they could earn Rs 3000 in the process. I became greedy and sent my sister-in-law's husband, Anwar Al-Haq, for training in August 2001. When he returned, he was very angry with me and told me that he would not do anything against our nation," stated Ansari.

Subsequently, the Delhi Police arrested Ansari in 2005 in an arms case. However, he was released within a month. On July 7, 2006, Abdul Rehman, who was Zuber's accomplice, told him to go to Sajid Ansari's house, another accused in the 7/11 blasts case.

He ended up planting the bomb, with three other Pakistanis, in a train at 5.57 pm from Churchgate which exploded in Matunga railway station killing 28 and injuring 122.
