At least 300 Hindus of Pakistan, now on a visit to India, staged a
demonstration in front of the collectorate at jodhpur on Monday
demanding Indian citizenship.

These men, women and children, belonging to the Bhil tribe, a
backward community, came to India with valid visas. They came to
visit their relatives in different villages in the border districts
of Barmer, Jaisalmer and jodhpur. Their visas expired some time
ago and they have sent them to the union government with a request
to extend their validity.

These people, who live in the Sindh province of Pakistan, have
expressed a desire to settle down in India as the situation is not
"ideal" for them at home.

The slogan-shouting Pakistanis demanded Indian citizenship and
vowed that they would not return to Pakistan.
