American Ambassador, Richard Celeste was reported to be keen to
discuss the Jhabua rape incident when he called on Union Home
Minister, LK Advani, which had irked some people in Delhi. But
when the meeting took place the American diplomat did not talk
about Christian minorities in India at all. In fact, spent most
of his time praising the Government's sincere efforts to improve
the security scenario in Jammu & Kashmir - a State which Celeste
had just visited this week. It was only when the ambassador was
leaving, he said in a casual manner that he had read some
reports that he would be discussing the Jhabua incidents with
Advani. never intended to do so, he assured Advaniji as he
shook hands.
