The CPI-ML (Liberation) on Monday disclosed that the state
government had 'recently sponsored the trip of a select group of
journalists to a Peoples' War Group (PWG) hideout in Jehanabad
village in order to diffuse the seriousness of the Shankarbigha
carnage.

The spokesman of the party at Jehanabad, Mr Mahanand in an
exclusive interview to The Times of India News Service on Monday
said instead of taking action against the erring officials and
the activists of tile Ranvir Sena, the government chose to
divert this issue and has tried to cover up its total failure.

"In fact, the entire government machinery was aware of this trip
to an unknown place but none of these officials bothered to find
out the truth. Even the local village police outpost in
Jehanabad had failed to locate the team", he pointed out.

Mr Mahanand, who is one of the main accused in the killing of a
CPI leader Ms Bageshwari Sharma recently at Mehandia police
station said that the so called armed squad of the PWG in those
areas are the "real booth capturers" of the RJD in the
elections. These armed squads are working as the real RJD
agents, he alleged.

Talking about the efficiency of the police, Mr Mahanand alleged
that out of the six accused in the Bageshwari Sharma killing,
four CPI(ML) members have been falsely implicated.

They are Ram Prakash Kushwaha, block committed member of the
CPI(ML), Mr Shah Chand, district committee member, Mr Mahendra
Singh and Mr Mahanand. The PWG has already owned the
responsibility of the killing of Bageshwari Sharma, he
disclosed. He also said that the members of the PWG had a very
cordial relationship with the slain CPI leader.

Meanwhile, the CPI-ML (Liberation) on Monday called upon the
people to boycott the BJP-sponsored Bihar Bandh on Wednesday in
order to expose the "killers of the Shankarbigha". "The
Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is trying to protect the killers
(Ranvir Sena)" ' said a senior party leader, Mr K D Yadav, here
on Monday.

Mr Yadav said that the people should rise to the occasion and
expose the misdeeds of the Ranvir Sena. "Ranvir Sena is
flourishing under the patronage of the RJD government in Bihar",
he alleged.

The party has decided to organise a state-wide dharna programme
on Tuesday demanding the immediate resignation of the Union home
minister, Mr. L.K. Advani, and the chief minister, Ms Rabri
Devi. The party has also demanded the immediate dismissal of the
DM and the SP of Jehanabad.

The party leaders in the state capital will stage a dharna here
at the railway station roundabout on Tuesday and will also burn
the effigies of the Rabri government, Union home minister and
the Ranvir Sena. Similar programmes would be organised in each
district headquarters, Mr Yadav said.

Meanwhile, the CPI(M-L) leader on Monday alleged that RJD leader
on Sunday night once again managed to rescue at least a dozen
hardcore Ranvir Sena activists at Paliganj Bazaar when the local
police were taking them to the jail. Mr. K.D. Yadav, a senior
party leader said that at least a dozen Ranvir Sena activists
alongwith rifles were going from Paliganj to Arwal.

In the meantime, the police intercepted the Sena activists at
Rajipur near Pali Bazaar on Sunday night and several rounds of
bullets were fired from both the sides, he said.

The CPI(ML) leader said that a local RJD leader, a close
relative of the former Union minister managed to release all the
activists of the Ranvir Sena which clearly indicated the links
with the RJD at the local level.
