Crusade against Christianity by a former Church leader

The truth of Bible is incomplete as it cannot help one to realise God. By following it the western countries have just become semi-civilised. It is totally unfit for the countries like India where there are far better ways a worship" says a former Church leader P. C. Thamphana who has now started a crusade against Christianity and Christian missionaries active in Mizoram. Alleging that the Christian missionaries have adopted all unfair means, like money and muscles to convert people, he is calling upon Christian Mizos to return to their original roots, i.e., Mizo faith. As a result a large number of Mizos have become his followers and regularly visit his Chanmoore Ashram. According to reports received from Aizwal out of odd 500 villages of Mizoram his movement has spreaded in more than 290 villages of the State.

Sixty year old Shri P.C. Thamphana is not much educated. Like other youth he had also adopted Christianity in his young age. He married a Mizo girl but she posed away within a few months of marriage. At this moment, he left his family and fully devoted himself to the cause of spreading Christianity. He visited Churches, studied the Bible and Christianity. In this process he realised their shortcomings and the unfair means being adopted by the missionaries to propogate their faith and convert people to Christianity. He began loosing faith in Christianity.

Fed up with false claims of Christianity he later met the original Mizos and studied their culture and traditions whereupon he realised the truth which he was searching for decades.

He started an awareness campaign throughout the State to propagate Mizo faith, culture and traditions that attracted the common man where over 80 per cent people are today in the grip of Christianity.

By and large a tide of self-assertion appears throughout Mizoram and today it has become a matter of debate in every house of the State.

Though not a large number of Christians have come to the fold of his new movement, they are not in a position to reject his influence. impressed by Thamphana's views thousands of non-Mizos visit his Chanmoore Ashram and attend the Sunday prayer.

Despite having no knowledge of modem languages. like English, Hindi, Bengali or Asamia he has written hundreds of books explaining the Mizo way of life in Mizo language. His disciplies have now translated them into other languages to popularise them among non-Mizos. This tide of self assertion has also attracted the enlightened p0OPIC Of the State who are now joining hands with Shri Thampana to reestablish the lost glory of Mizo culture and traditions.

Undoubtedly it is a major set-back for Christian missionaries in North-Eastern States since their activities are now being opposed by a former Church leader.
