There was a bomb blast
in a Christian congregation. Immediately they called it an RSS act. Several
attacks on Christian, Muslim and even Hindu places of worship followed.
With each new incident, tile shrillness of the vendetta against the RSS
increased. Christians in this country are being persecuted by the Hindu
fundamentalist goons of the RSS and its parivaar organisations, the propaganda
mill lamented relentlessly. And invented a rider to it, that all this had
started only after the BJP-led Government assumed office at the Centre.
There were voices of
reason by responsible dignitaries ... George Fernandes saw a pattern in
these incidents and suspected the involvement of foreign forces. Sri L.K.
Advani was more forthright. He said with some definitness that the ISI's
involvement can't be ruledout.
But they and their voices
of caution were not taken note of. Instead they were rediculed..of having
an ISI-phobia. Self-proclaimed 'champions of minorities', like Seema Mustafa
and Kuladeep Nayyar, castigating the Union Government for suspecting ISI's
involvement, even declared that there was a sinister motive behind bringing
in ISI's name. The implication is that the RSS will attack the Christians
and other minorities and the Government will only say that it is the handiwork
of the ISI and wash its hands.
People like John Dayal,
who are more power brokers than leaders of any religion, had a field day.
With obliging media at their disposal, venom was spewed by them against
the RSS and its allied organisations. They were branded as zealots out
to destroy and eliminate Christian community in India. They had even indulged
in treachery through their utterances.
"We are Christians first,
Christians second and Christians last", John Dayal was stated to have declared
in the public rally organised in the Nizam College grounds in Hyderabad.
There were calls to Christian youths to take to arms for "self-protection",
implying that they have no faith in the Governments of the day. Effectively,
there was an attempt to creat what can be called as "Christian Terrorism"
in this country.
All this, with utter
disregard for facts. The 'super investigators' in our soldout media wrote
volumes about the possible involvement of the RSS. The Christian clergy
even lobbied with a dozen or more Congressional MPs in the US and a petition
was sent to the US President Mr. Bill Clinton seeking him to declare India
as a "Terrorist State".
Today, not one person
opens his mouth. With the facts coming out and real culprits behind bars,
these minority propaganda mills have suddenly downed their shutters. Not
one word about the real culprits of the ISI-sponsored Anjuman. Not one
word of apology for all their loose talk and brazen babble.
Instead see the audacity
of men like John Dayal. He still says that though the attackers were Muslims,
the RSS was responsible for creation hate atmosphere. Great secular writers
like Seema Mustafa now change tune and say that the fact that the ISI had
spread to that extent shows that the State had failed in its duties. Wah!
hats off to secular intellect! It is only to save their skin for their
utterly irresponsible behaviour that they are making such comments. It
is a known fact that the present state of affairs as far as internal security
is concerned is cumulative effect of the sins of the successive governments
over last 50-odd years and the present Government is trying its best to
purge the country of these elements.
Christians should realise
It is high time the Christian
society realised its fallacy of having people like John Dayal, who are
more a political brokers than well-wishers of their community as their
leaders today. These people have their eyes set on one Rajya Sabha seat
or one handshake with Bill Clinton. Welfare of the Christian community
is not even the least priority for them.
Christian community better
realise without delay that it is their age-old tradition of love through
which only they can progress in this country. They should try to make every
effort to soften the ruffled feathers of the majority community due to
the utter intransigence and arrogance of their leadership. They should
try to win friends among the Hindu society, not among the self-seeking
politicians.
The restraint shown by
the Hindu organisations, with a couple of unavoidable exceptions, is commendable.
The Christian community should be grateful to them for their patience even
in the face of totally unjustified and brutal criticism and alleged accusations
hurled at them by not only Rajasekhar Reddys and Ajit Jogis but also by
John Dayals and Father Jojis.
The Christian community
is living in this country for the last 2000 years, not because of the political
support of the leaders but because of the magnanimity of the Hindu brethren
here. Once it is lost due to such foolish and homicidal antics next few
years may see a totally deferent picture for the Christian community in
this country.
Why do they attack the
RSS
It may be pertinent to
ask this question. One may be justified if he were to say that the Christian
missionaries see in the RSS a potential threat to their subversive and
proseytising activities. But for the RSS and its allied organisations,
the missionaries in this country would have had a field day carrying on
their calumny against Hindu gods and godesses and their clandestine conversions.
The RSS stood like a rock preventing this mockery of religion. However
there is not a single incident where the RSS or its organisations are found
tobe involved in any violent or criminal activity. They work in true Hindu
spirit.
