18. (PTI): Over Rs. 6 crores was spent on the treatment of
former Prime Minister V P Singh abroad during the last three years, Rajya
Sabha was told today.
While an expenditure
of Rs. 1,15,25,376 was incurred by the Government on the former Prime
Minister's medical treatment abroad during 1997-98, a sum of Rs.
3,04,40,960 and Rs. 1,81,39,050 was spent during 1998-99 and 1999-2000
respectively, the Minister of State for Health and Family Welfare, Rita
Verma, said in a written reply.
The Minister said the
Government also incurred an expenditure of Rs. 59,15,592 towards
treatment abroad for former Prime Minister P V Narasimha Rao and Rs.
18,47,797 for Malti Devi, MP during 1998-99.
