In an effort to give
a boost to its overseaes activities, the RSS will hold a conference at
Uttan near Bhayander where it has built a sprawling training complex.
``Over 550 delegates
representing different organisations of NRI Hindus settled in 35 countries
will take part in the conference to be held between December 26 and 31,''
senior RSS pracharak and all India bouddhik pramukh Ranga Hari told reporters
here on Wednesday.
The conference will be
inaugurated by the Shankaracharya of Kanchi Kamkoti Peetham Sri Jayendra
Saraswati and Union ministers L.K. Advani and Murli Manohar Joshi
will be among those who will address the gathering.
``Delegates for this
`Vishwa Sangh Shibir' (World RSS camp) will, among other things, discuss
issues related to Hindu identity and its assertion in the face of growing
incidents of insults to Hindu deities the world over,'' Ranga Hari said.
He also said forums like the Association of Global Hindus Against Defamation
(AGHAD) in US had received an encouraging response due to RSS efforts ``to
sensitise Hindus about the way its identity is being ridiculed by certain
sections''.
The RSS has contacts
with Hindus in over 80 countries while active RSS-affiliates are functioning
in 50 countries since 1947 onwards. Over a dozen pracharaks, some
of them from among the NRIs, are working for the cause of Hindus.
``Besides NRIs, the RSS is drawing a good response among the people of
Indian origin living in countries like Fiji, Myanmar, Hong Kong, South
Africa, Trinidad and Surinam,'' he said.
