Two more CRPF jawans
were killed today morning in the ongoing encounter with militants inside
its camp in Anantnag district, even as the Army foiled another attempt
by militants to storm its post in north Kashmir, official sources said
here.
The ongoing 12-hour encounter
at the 61 battalion CRPF camp at Ashajipora, following militants suicide
attack yesterday evening, took the toll to four, they said.
A Lashkar-e-Toiba militant
and a CRPF jawan were killed and three jawans were injured in the attack
yesterday, the sources said adding although the firing stopped after over
an hour, it broke out again, when security forces, who had laid a seige
around the camp from outside, closed in to flush out the militants.
It is feared that the
militant who was still alive might have taken some CRPF men as hostage
inside the camp, the sources said, adding the firing was continuing intermittently
and the Army had taken control of the operation.
Meanwhile, the Army foiled
another suicide attack in Cherkote area of frontier district Kupwara late
last night, when they shot dead one of the two Lashker militants attempting
to storm devar post, they said.
When challenged, the
two opened fire and in the retaliatory action, one of them was killed while
the other managed to escape, the sources said. PTI
