Does Saudi Arabia check for bibles,
Gita, crucifix and other religious items from visitors entering their
nation ?
Yes. They do check for these items
routinely. They may not check each and every bag, but they do check them.
Is it true that if the customs
officer finds them, , they tear the books apart, and throw them in the
garbage ?
If they find something, they definately
will tear the books and / or photos.
My brother-in-law's wife was going
to Saudi Arabia for the first time after marriage, she was carrying with
her photo of Shri Ganesh. Knowing she was a 1st timer (most 1st timer female
would carry some sort of religious images with them), she was tharoughly
checked and when they found the picture, they tore it apart, threw it on
the floor, stomped on it and said, "now see how your god helps".
